Say Goodbye....

... cos The Mission are going to heaven now (well, until Mr Hussey needs more cash to pay the gas bill, at which point he'll stage another reunion)

As everyone else who posted said, the farewell Mish gigs were great - they were never my favourite band but I cant deny I love them, they've undoubtedly been a very big part of my life, plus at least in ( Read more... )

[2] apart from those whose members are all well over 30, and even then there werent as many as there should have been

That's because I'd been there first time around, and tbh, it didn't appeal to me at anymore. Just the same with the recent Cult gigs.

yeah, I know that would be the case with some people, I'm the same as regards the Cult, plus you are not even in London, so it would have taken more effort, time and money to come, so I wanst actually thinking of you when I wrote that. The note was actually referred to band members in particular - way too many people in bands dont seem to give a shit about going to see live music, yet they get all upset when people dont go see their band.

I don't even like The Mission ...

I went to see the March Violets. Didn't like them much.

Now UK Decay is a different matter.

I have no idea about whether they'll reform again for this years event.

I thought I was close to Steve Spon, but he never uttered a word to me last year about the surprise! We'll just have to wait and see!

I didn't go coz I've seen em before and I don't really like em much...GOM is *ok* but Children onwards is a pile of pants IMHO. Massively over rated band..

"it goes to show that so many of the people that go everywhere else aren't really interested in 'real' goth bands"

Many ppl on the goth "scene" arent interested in bands full stop!

"The scene is so fragmented, and there are so many cross overs into various 'goth' subcultures that the meaning has changed and cannot be defined in one way. "

Personlly I think that's great!

I'm not a goth either...

Well music and scenes evolve. Like you I've found that goth has evolved into something I don't really care for or identify with. Health considerations and lack of leave were the main reason I didn't do the Mish gigs. However I wish I have. The Mish (along with the Cult) were my fave band between the ages of 15 and 18.

Would've loved to have gone toe the Gods Own Medicine night. One of my fav albums (and, notably the album responsible for getting me into goth back in 1991). I've just been way too skint, and stupidly busy trying to finish things! :(

Glad it went well though. Awesome live band!
