It doesn't sound all that beautiful to me; it sound boring and cold. I don't live some prefabricated perfected future.

You have to remember that New York City is designed around neighborhoods and walking. The chaos you speak of is community. In the first half the twentieth century Robert Moses tried impose his "City of the Future" vision onto New York City and the results were horrible. Houses can no longer be on the river, because Moses wanted cars to be able to drive there--so apartment buildings in Manhattan are hemmed in by thick, congested parkways that run on either side of the island. City and community planning has to be more sensitive to the real needs of real inhabits of the urban landscape--not some theorhetorical model.
