I think you may be over estimating the effort that people are willing to put in on a quasi stalking tool.

My advice is to keep your account even if your personal use of it reeeeeeeally decreases. It has it's uses, and I can tell you that it's a great way of keeping up with your friends when you're far away, which you ain't now, but who knows what the future holds.
