1. my good friend justin has just started an mp3 blog. i've known justin for years, and he was the first to introduce me to good stuff like: beat happening, captain beefheart, jonathan richman, secret mommy, desmond dekker and many more. he's big on simple pop music, especially when it's a little raw and off-kilter. check it out:

well, assuming this is a race, I rarely comment b/c everyone else pretty much articulates whatever I'm feeling and then some. So out of fear of coming off as a troglodyte or somet, I figure I'll spare everyone the trouble of having to scroll down an extra 1/4" for yet another generic word of praise. Yayer.

of course you know, this refers to your lj as a whole. I just sorta get weirded out by your inhabiting the world of the marginalized and the meta-discourse that goes along with it, most probably because I relate with that all too much, and sometimes you don't wanna be made aware of what you're doing by looking at other people's behavior that have the slightest resemblance of what you do, especially if it generates guilt. OK, wretched rambling ceasiiiiiing....now.

not entirely sure what to make of this... i assume the first paragraph is a compliment (?) so thanks... as for the second, i'm not sure if you're saying that you feel guilty for thinking about the same things i do, or if i feel guilty about thinking about the same stuff others do, or if it doesn't have much to do with guilt at all, but i was just trying to pay respects where i think they're due, and promote things i think are good and worth checking out. i'm not feeling particularly bad about being influenced by other blogs-- in fact i kinda love that... i find the whole cyber-chat thing to be really positive and collaborative and all that (if you play it right), so no worries here... anyway, i think it's all a pretty positive little conversation going on in here, so no worries, etc.

sorry about the confusion, since it was indeed a compliment. Might I add, phew, I'm glad you didn't take what I said outside of the compliment too seriously (if that ;)) since it was sort of off topic and came from nowhere. Back on topic, I'd say we're eye to eye on how awesome it is that you're paying respects or being influenced other people's blogs (the latter which I'd venture to say is something that inevitably happens to most people, if not all). I agree with the cyber-chat thing lending itself to a collaborative and an overall positive experience, especially when it involves giving the reader the option of experiencing 1st-hand the gems that you're beaming about. But that's probably just the pinko in me talking...
