in slightly more positive news, i rocked the mic at hip hop karaoke. so at least that corner of the world is safe.

what song did you do?

(i contributed to an awful three piece rendition of "mama said knock you out," arguably my poorest karaoke performace ever. we had no lyrics on hand and knew a combined total of about 4 lines between the three of us.

With life being so leaden and consistently pounding with foreign travesties and domestic retardation, it never ceases to comfort me how when listening to Scott Walker, all the worst of it is distilled and synthesized through such glistening humanity and becomes hopeful.
...Which makes it all the worse, for instance, that "Till The Band Comes In" forced him to throw in a bunch of random-ass MOR songs at the end.

Oy weh. The Drift ≥ life

How quickly the powerlessness shifts to an engrossing view...

yeah, till the band comes in is definitely a mixed bag. i rarely make it through the whole thing. and music makes things a little better, of course.

I always enjoy seeing your posts pop up on my friends list even if I don't spend a lot of time at lj lately and I'm looking forward to seeing those art images sooner or later ( ... )

hey thanks...

i'm familiar with "democracy now!", though i don't listen to it/visit their webpage often enough, and i used to subscribe to the nation (maybe i ought to renew that?), but buzzflash is new to me.

as for petitions, i'm swimming in them, since i get notifications from like every left-leaning thing on earth (moveon, the howard dean thingie, amnesty intl, barbara boxer, the list goes on). but i like the idea of sharing them here, even if they are usually my most boring posts.

the path to 9/11 aired while i was away on vacation, and i managed to miss a lot of the hype surrounding it. apparently it sorta tanked though, viewer-wise, from what i read.
