as a little challenge to myself, i decided to whip up an entire painting in two sessions. just a little guy. it was a worthwhile little experiment, i guess. it's certainly not the nicest thing i've ever made, but whatever...
didn't mean to sound down on it necessarily... i'm kinda at a crossroads, i guess. starting to feel like my old tricks are "old tricks", maybe?
i've got another, much more involved piece that i'll be finishing over the next day or two (all that's left might be described as "hard labor"... the fun part is pretty much over), and then i'm probably gonna start re-evaluating things a bit, mixin' it up, etc.
when things get uncertain... that's usually the fun part, right?
ahhh..if only...ironchefpinoyDecember 30 2007, 06:47:23 UTC
i was actually producing things at the moment. been in a kind of creative doldrums. hopefully a trip to the (c)Murakami exhibition at the Geffen will jumpstart something in me.
re: Edo period. any period, really.
oh...and the ukiyo-e. particularly the more macabre themed images that use a darker palette with splashes of a bright red (though your reds are much more muted). this dude is dope: Tsukioka Yoshitoshi.
don't listen to mr. anonymous, hahahadanschankDecember 30 2007, 19:52:11 UTC
i'm in the brown plaid (and the avatar). my youngest sister is directly above me, and her BF is on top of her. my cousin can be seen unfortunately close to my butt.

i've always dug your sense of color and the choices you make for any of your pieces....
and i'm diggin' this palette like an ol' soul record! or actually, diggin' it like a byobu from the Edo Period....

More importantly, your art work never fails to amaze me. When's the coffee table book coming out?
