i'm a way bigger fan of the impossible. to be honest, i couldn't get through story of the eye. i think i read it just after some jean genet, so i was already in the ballpark content-wise and expected a bit more atmosphere and poetry? maybe i should revisit that one... the half of it i did read didn't take too long if i remember correctly.
thats one big shitcake with 111 candles, wicks spluttering, and the ghastly corpse of Bataille can be dropped ashen and grey into the center of the putrid fecal mound, extinguishing perhaps half of the candles, but the old suit will catch flame, the corpse burning quickly, just black bones, like jagged crow claws etched against the shrieking flames
