This is a twist on the Letter Meme. Instead of coming up with ten items for a certain letter, you come up with five song titles for a certain letter and explain why you picked them. If interested then leave a comment. I'll give you a letter. You post this blurb in your journal along with your list. (Download links welcome, but not required.)
Yeah, I've done this before. What's your point?
My letter, as given me by
dancingbarefoot is the letter "B." However, as a note, yes, the thing says 5 song titles. I, however, have way too many songs that start with B (318, including ones with articles in front), and it took enough work just to narrow it down to ten. So I'm breaking the meme rules (yeah, surprising; remember my lucky number 13 guy I'd shag?) and posting ten song titles. AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *cough* Ahem. Anyway.
01. "Bailamos" - Enrique Iglesias
Let's look at this equation: Enrique + you can dance to it + has Spanish in it = ♥
Though the first part is really just an added bonus. And, really, the rest of the equation will fit practically any Latin song.
02. "Beautiful Goodbye" - Amanda Marshall
I think this is the first song I heard by her. She has a very distinctive voice, which I love, and this song is just so beautiful. The lyrics, her voice, the music. Argh. Just love it.
03. "Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson
This beautiful song is sung by the original American Idol, the one with the most (and longest-lasting) success thus far. I love this song very much, although it made me tear up the first time I heard it, and it still does so on occasion.
04. "Big-Ass Rock" - from The Full Monty
I love this song so very, very much. It sounds so happy and nice . . . until you pay attention to the lyrics and realise that it's about ways to help your friend kill himself. Best line: "Tickle your wrists with a single-edged razor, or buy you a beer with a draino chaser."
05. "Black Roses Red" - Alana Grace
I blame Kris for this song. She made me fall in love with it by playing it a lot when she was visiting back in May. Now I listen to it practically all the time, and I pretty much have the song memorised. Alana has a beautiful voice (even my picky dad agrees, I played it when we were on the way to Florida), and the lyrics actually kind of inspire me to write.
06. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" - Green Day
I blame Dayna for this song, because she was talking about it a lot. So I pilfered my brother's CD and now the song is stuck in my head. Though it had already sort of been stuck in the back of my head, thanks to the fact that I used part of the lyrics on one of my icons for Forever Knight for
icons100.
07. "Broken Vow" - Josh Groban
Well, I can't exactly go without posting a Josh song, now can I? I love Josh Groban very very much. Seeing him in concert a couple years ago was amazing, and I swear the boy is like a five-year-old kid who's had too many pixy stix. Oh, and the song is beautiful, too. ;D I decided, when winamp switched directly from Michael Crawford singing "Music of the Night" to a Josh song (I don't remember which) that I would positively die if Josh sang Erik's part in any of the songs from Phantom. He's got the voice and the breath stability to do it.
08. "The Battle of Strings and a Cellphone" - Nobuo Uematsu (FF9)
This makes me giggle. Every single time I listen to it. And it has the positive of "you can dance to it." Because, yes, you really could dance to it. That really influences my decision as to whether or not I like a song, a lot of the time. I will like some seemingly awful songs, just because you could dance to them. (This isn't one of those seemingly awful songs, though.)
09. "The Beer Song" - Unknown
It's probably bad that I have this song nearly memorised. I was first "introduced" to this song via an AMV of Trigun clips to this song. Which was really frikkin' hilarious. Anyway. This is a hilarious song.
10. "The Boys of Summer" - Don Henley
I will probably always love this song. And I will always love the original over any cover, no matter how decent the cover is. I can't even say exactly why I love this song so much, I think it's just a combination of the lyrics, the vocals, and the music.
In other news, I picked up The Secret Garden over at
icons100. I'm trying some new stuff with these icons so far, while still sticking with old tricks, of course. I'm liking how they're turning out so far, and I only have two done, lol.
