depends on your strengths. Fritz seems to be handling engineering pretty well, but could he write a 17 page paper?

Writing papers is not that hard in my opinion. Writing a five-page technical paper is much harder than something double its size. There's no way you can fluff. Words like "however" and "very" cannot be used. It's not easy.

but technical writing...it's writing facts, what happened etc, pretty much all information that you can get from a book or describing what happened in your experiment. Very easy to be objective and one doesn't have to come up with your own opinions. In inta., a lot of times there is no write answer, which can drive people nuts.

Perhaps there might not always be a right answer, but the paper can be written along the lines of what your professor or employer wants. Professors and employers might encourage original thought all they want, but in the end they are all biased. If a person wants a good grade or doesn't want get fired, they write accordingly. If they don't want to cater to whoever is receiving the writing in an attempt to uphold their principles or whatnot, they'll have to settle for something less in many cases.
