The Colorado news media has been in a frenzy about the shootings. They have had unending coverage since early this morning. The man booby trapped his apartment as well so they have been alternating between the theater, the high school where the victim were taken and the man's apartment where the FBI and Aurora police have been breaking windows and peering through at his handiwork. They have evacuated five or six apartment buildings.

The one ray of hope is that in respect for the victims the presidential candidates have suspended their political advertisements.

It is notable that the movies that we like the best would not be prone to having shooters. I really can't see a man in black wanting to disrupt "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."

There have been mass shootings in restaurants, department stores, hair salons, government offices--you name it. No activity is guaranteed safe so long as firearms remain as widely available as they are.

On the bright side, however, you're far more likely to be killed on the way to and from the cinema than in any of those places. So relax and enjoy the show.
