WotLK Midnight Launch

Nov 13, 2008 13:49

Here is a report of last night, where I attended the London launch of Wrath of the Lich King.

Me and my dad left about 6.30pm and drove into London. It was jam packed and we arrived in the queue about 8.00pm. There were two queues. The people who had arrived earlier got wristbands and placed in a special queue. We were in the second queue, sandwiched in between some Chinese folks speaking Mandarin and some Russians.

The queue was pretty boring and I spent most of it bopping up and down taking pictures of people in costume/getting my picture taken/smelling all the McDonalds people were eating.

Night Elf Druid.

Draenei Shaman. Her shoulders actually lit up and apparently she made her costume in two days.

She was accompanied by a critter.

Two Night Elfs.

Blood Elf Warlock and a Felguard, who looks suspiciously like Ju.

A Tauren! She was one of the first people in the queue.

Me and above Tauren.

I found a lady with the same costume as me!

The both of us <3

Another one!

I am pulling an amazing face.

And lastly the guy in the queue behind me. Guild tabard :D

In the end, the queue went RIGHT around the whole building. We were about mid way.

They started letting people in about 11pm. Girls and guys in WotLK t-shirts went along the queue chucking free stuff into the crowd. I got a murloc badge, a Felreaver card from the TCG and a cute picture of a Gnome warrior. They were also chucking t-shirts, and the guy who won that auction for that replica Frostmourne was walking around.

We got in around ... 12.30pm I think and Holy SHIT.

There were two queues. One for people who just wanted the game and one for people who wanted their games signed. As we were waiting to get my CE signed, fucking ARTHAS walks out and starts being all Arthas-y on the stage. There were loads of people in the way but my dad managed to take a few shots of him being awesome.

He kept disappearing and reappearing. I hoped to get a better shot but he vanished a little while after the last one was taken. On the stage they had a massive screen hooked up and played some WoW cinematics. Trailers for the Black Temple, ZA and Sunwell as well as interviews and things. The atmosphere was really great.

They opened your box for you, and you went up on the stage, got it signed, got given some free stuff, and then went to a much shorter queue to pay. When I went up for my signing, the people in front of me were having Paul Sams and Jeff Sparks sign a pair of ladie's knickers, hah.

I came over a bit shy on my turn though. They were very nice men and Jeff Sparks took my photo for his phone. I am still not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad, but Paul Sams told me it was the only photograph he'd taken of any fans so far that night so I felt all tingly :3 Hee.

My dad completely owned one of the staff. When I got to the front of the queue he sauntered up to me and asked if I wore my costume in bed.

'Err, no'
'Oh .. I would ;D'

I was kinda '...' about it, until he went to my dad behind me in the queue and asked if he was here for a signing.

'No I am escorting my daughter. *Gestures*.'

Poor guy's face :D

All in all, I had a nice time and met some lovely people. If anyone is reading this, I'd really like to contact the guys in the queue in front of me who were super awesome: The guy on Emerald Dream with the Druid, the Chinese guy in the white jacket and the guy with the Pokémon stuff on his bag. Also any of the people in costume: I am Nenshanei on The Sha'tar.

Cat optional.
