Heyy! The song would be "Silhouettes" by Smile Empty Soul. They are one of my favorites; in fact I was listening to THAT song as a I read your entry..freaky. On the topic of religion, Smile Empty Soul has a song called "Every Sunday". Download it, listen to it, it is the soundtrack of my life. Since I was born I have been forced to go to church. I am Catholic. Religion to me has always been something I am forced to believe; if I don't I get yelled at. It has always seemed very narrow-minded and one sided.

However I believe in God, Jesus, and all that shit. Amen.

I think that RELIGION is anything that helps you. Brings you up. Inspires you. Gives you hope, strength. Gives meaning to your life. Gives you a reason for what you do and your life. For some, it is a belief in God. To others, Buddha. To still others, music. To others, art. To others, dancing.

Alright I'm done preaching! God bless

I think that there is a definite distinction between religion and spirituality. What your friend above me described was a bit more like spirituality.

Religion to me has always had the connotation of being more "organized" or perhaps I should say "coordinated." It's not just some random person believing whatever they feel is right as much as a group of people together sharing beliefs they have in common.

That's always the way I thought of it.

I'm brought up Jewish, currently Ellaran.

I think spirituality, in its purest form, is supposed to help you. It's supposed to be something you can turn to when life's questions leave you dazed and confused, an impartial dimension in which you can seek refuge when you feel as though the world fails to understand you, and a lap upon which you can cry your eyes out when humanity seems to have abandoned you.

Personally, however, I am an atheist. Returning to your question, though, as to the definition of religion, I guess that religion can be thought of as a form of group spirituality. Religion, to me, implies "organized group activity." Spirituality seems to be a purer term, though, as I think much of mainline modern-day "religiosity" is a disaster, and referring to spiritualism in a way seperates the fundamental purposes of religion from the controlling monster that some forms of it have become.
