oh... you are brilliant. I was so caught up in their golden idyll that I completely forgot about the Pegasus, till the end. But I still find it hard to believe that it took them all summer to almost-frak! (not a comment on your writerly skill, I'm just a hopeless believer in their combustibility!) And I love the sense of doom and love that hangs over everything, even though you never mention Zak's fate.

Thanks so much! But hey, it took them close to nine months to almost frak on the show, and that's without a living brother/boyfriend getting in the way, so I stand by my timeline. Anyhow, I'm glad you liked it despite their self-restraint.

I love backstories, and this is perfectly believable and beautifully written. Wonderful thing to wake up to. :)

Thanks! That means even more coming from someone whose writing I enjoy so much myself. Backstories are like crack, and I was pretty happy to come up with one that I don't think has been written before.

Awwwwww. AWWWWWWWWWWW. I adore this. I love the lazy summer scenes, all the tiny details; you can smell the moss and hear the too-loud music and feel the water when they're swimming. And for some reason, I loved--even while it broke my heart--that Zak might love Kara at least partially because he sees some of Lee in her; what a perfect, sad observation. My main problem with the Kara-met-Zak-first idea (well, besides the fact that I wrote 19,000 words about how Kara met Lee first :D) is that it has the potential to be so soap-opera-y, but you handled it gorgeously, true to all three of these characters (at least as I see them). And the Cadet Adama/Cadet Thrace aspect even fits in my desperate need to believe that Kara and Lee were friends at the Academy. :) And I love how you bookend it with present-day on the series, that the time might be right for them, now, and their history can be such a solace for them when everything's changed so much ( ... )

Thanks so much! I'm really happy to hear you liked it. Backstory is like crack, so much so that even Lee and Kara know it and must invent it for themselves. The first pre-mini fic I wrote was of the Kara-met-Lee-first variety (partially inspired, I must admit, by "Laws of Gravity"), but over time I've come to appreciate the met-Zak-first thing because then it makes such perfect sense why Lee and Kara have this whole relationship built on sublimation and not talking about things.

I'm very glad I finished and posted this today, because tonight's finale has made my head explode and it may be a while before I can write fic again.
