I'm slightly recovered from my shake up from earlier. After an embarassing and completely pathetic outburst in my dorm with Pansy, I went out for a walk in the evening and found myself somewhere I never thought I'd find myself...
daphne hwl: Daphne walked down the empty halls, lost in thought. After answering Harry's owl, she had wanted to just be alone. None of her friends could help her. She wandered along until she noticed some movement behind the paneled glass of one of the classrooms. Looking at where she was, she calculated she was at Professor Lupin's classroom. With slight hesitation, she knocked on the door, not really knowing what she was doing or why she was doing it.
I fear the mo0n: Busy. Lupin was preparing for the night ahead, he had already called to Madam Pomfrey explaining he'd open his door the next morning for her to check on him. As per usual for this time of the month. He was making some tea when he heard a gentle tapping. Lupin blinked, was that.. a Slytherin uniform? He was caught between opening the door to see if there was an emergency, and locking it tighter, to make sure this wasn't some practical joke. When he looked closer, he caught sight of long brown hair, and sighed. Daphne. "Come in, Ms. Greengrass."
daphne hwl: Daphne blinked when Professor Lupin opened the door. Should she. Shouldn't she. What was the point of coming here? She stepped in through the door and carefully shut it behind her. "Erm, good evening Professor," she said, still standing by the door.
I fear the mo0n: He sighed inwardly in relief when he saw how distraught and confused the girl was. Not because she was feeling this way mind you, merely because it meant she wasn't going to begin dropping silver-nitrate on his skin. Especially in his weakened state at present. He looked to her, smiling softly, endearingly. "Tea, Ms. Greengrass?" His kettle was pouring out one cup already, and he was adding honey and chocolate. His favorite.
daphne hwl: Daphne smiled weakly and sat down in one of the seats. "I'd love some. Thank you." She nodded and played with a loose string on her skirt, she really had to get rid of that. "Um, professor, I'm sorry for bothering you. I'm," she paused to compose herself. Memories of earlier had randomnly flooded into her mind and she stopped to keep herself from bursting into hysteria on the floor, "really not quite sure why I'm here."
I fear the mo0n: He handed her a cup, smiling softly. Not many students actually knew why they ended up here, but they eventually figured it out. He sat down, drinking some of his tea. The magical kettle, always poured it at the exact right temperature for drinking. It had been a gift from Lily one Christmas. He looked to her, and spoke quietly, he had seen her random change of tone and body language. "Has there been anything bothering you lately?" He offered helpfully. He gestured about the classroom. "These walls have no eyes or ears, Ms. Greengrass."
daphne hwl: She blinked back tears. Why did she have to keep bloody thinking about that? Nodding slowly, she crossed and uncrossed her legs, then crossed them again. "There's been a lot going on for me Professor," she said slowly, not sure if she should be confessing all this to a Professor or not. "But I'm not sure if you want to hear this." She took a tentive sip from the cup and smiled lightly. "This is very good Professor. Thank you." She set it down on the desk.
I fear the mo0n: He nodded in thanks for complimenting his tea, and then spoke calmly. "Ms. Greengrass, I will listen to anything you have to say. However," he took a sip, "in order for me to be of any help, you must first be able to say what it is." His voice was calm, gentle and reassuring. He wanted to help her, that was evident.
daphne hwl: Daphne took a deep breath and some of the nervousness flooded her. She looked around. "Um...alright, I can talk about it." She could tell he wanted to help her. This was something that she just didn't want to talk to Pansy about or Draco and definitly not Harry. A sad look crossed her features at that moment and she sighed. She took another sip of tea before she began. "Well it all kind of started when..." she paused, "... when I developed feelings for Harry Potter," she told him.
daphne hwl: She stopped, not sure what he was going to say about that. Everyone was against that, but then again, Draco certainly wasn't, he had feelings for Harry as well. She frowned, officially lost in thought.
I fear the mo0n: Nothing really phased Lupin anymore, the man was a bloody werewolf. It' gets pretty hard to surprise someone after an ordeal like that. Daphne, was a popular girl, Harry was in a way, a popular boy. Not only that, they both shared tainted lime-light. It wasn't surprising she had acquired feelings for him, nor unnatural. He looked plainly at her, and smiled softly. "Love does, immensly strange things to people, doesn't it Ms. Greengrass?" It wasn't mocking, nor was it contradictory, it was merely a statement, a lighthearted, gentle one at that.
daphne hwl: She looked up when he said that. She was surprised. She expected the least to be shock. Everyone was against it. He was a Gryffindor. She was a Slytherin. But then it was okay for Harry and Draco. Then she blushed. Love. Did she love Harry? "Yes, you're right Professor, very true."
I fear the mo0n: He sipped his tea again, leaning back in the seat a little. He realized he was just breaking the surface here, though it was a good start. He crossed his legs, getting a bit more comfortable. He was watching her, silently urging her to continue.
daphne hwl: She decided to continue. "People were upset when they found out. My friend Tracey Davis was very upset. She thought I was betraying the Slytherins and my family for having feelings for Harry. In truth, I haven't decided what to do, she's already joined with the Dark Lord, I believe-" She stopped suddenly. "Um Professor, you won't be sharing any of this information correct? I just revealed something I really wasn't supposed to." She took another sip of her tea again, toying with her hair nervously.
I fear the mo0n: Lupin grinned softly leaning back in his chair. "Sharing what?" He looked to her calmly, "Ms. Greengrass, this conversation never happened, as I see it." He fixed his tea, and then sipped at it softly. "Did the fact that, you believed Tracey had the wrong idea, or the fact that she didn't accept you, upset you?" It was important to figure out which was which. That was how they'd get to a solution.
daphne hwl: "It was the fact that she just wouldn't accept that I had feelings for him. I don't know. She believed, if I had feelings for the enemy, then I was betraying my friends and my family. Over time, she learned to accept it. But I don't think she'll ever be entirely comfortable with that fact."
daphne hwl: Daphne continued. "So I just moved on with that. I knew my other friends suspected something. I was with Harry a lot and my feelings for him grew everytime I saw him." She sighed. This was hard. She had to get it out though. "I adored being with him, he was just so..." she couldn't finish that sentence, only sighing to complete it. "I don't know, I can't describe what exactly I like about Harry." With that thought she blushed. She couldn't believe all this was coming out after it was too late.
daphne hwl: "The thing was," she sighed again, "I found out that Draco kind of had a thing for him. That was shocking. It was kind of weird. Draco was a my friend...and a male. And I felt very strongly for Harry, just hid it."
daphne hwl: Daphne paused, more for herself really. She liked to add a dramatic flair to all her conversations, no matter who it was. "Then I found out that Draco had kissed Harry. That was shocking, and pretty weird for me, I mean, that's my friend Draco Malfoy. I didn't know what to do. I didn't see it though." She winced a little. "But I saw them last night. Anyways...I was out for a walk and I found them outside of the locker room..." She shivered, just the thought of that sent her thoughts in all directions. "Harry found out I liked him and um...well...sent me an owl telling me he doesn't feel the same way." She sighed. "I guess that's the end of my story."
I fear the mo0n: By this time his tea was nearly all drank, he had been listening to Daphne's story as she called it, intently. Picking out bits here and there, the parts that would help, the excess, etc. It was really what he did-helped. He nodded at the comment of her deciding that her friends just really were not accepting her. Which was hard to go through, especially as a teenager, and a teenager in a conflicting house. The most divided other than Ravenclaw. He decided to visit the Tracey ordeal first, it was a good place to start. "Ms. Davis, has chosen her 'path' if you will, Ms. Greengrass. Unfortunately, it is a friendless path, and she will do nothing to bend her ways. She probably fears for her safety and that of her parents in this matter as well." He paused a moment, thinking out the rest of it. "I can't guarantee anything, as I do not know her very well, but if she is in alliance with The Dark Lord, she will not be changing her mind without reprecussions anytime soon." He wasn't about to sit there and go on about the side of the good, and why or why not Daphne should join, that was for her to figure out. When she began to stumble over her words in accordance with her feelings for Harry, he merely let her, that was another part of growing up. Realizing feeling from love, and reasons as to why and when.
I fear the mo0n: Hearing about 'Draco's "thing" for Harry' wasn't new to him either. He had noticed it some time ago, when Harry first brought the kissing incident to him. He never expected it all to play out to this degree, but then again, who knew? He smiled inwardly at the 'he's a male' comment. So many people were unused to that lifestyle, even now, it was amusing to him. Though the fact that she hid her feelings was not the best of moves, yet when didn't we hid our feelings? It was society's ending factor really. Pent up emotions. He waited, sipped at his tea, and listened for her to continue. Though when she confided that she'd seen them, he chuckled knowingly, inwardly of course. The many times he and Sirius had been caught, and unsuspecting peers had gotten a bit more than bargained for. When she finished with Harry exclaiming his true feelings, Lupin reached out and put a hand on one of her's. Squeezing it lightly. "While you had every right to be a bit shocked, by Harry and Draco kissing I think what is truly bugging you, is that... Harry doesn't feel the same way." It was rather obvious, but sometimes, the obvious need be pointed out by someone else, to make it obvious for others. He continued rather carefully. "Not to offend you Ms. Greengrass, but why, exactly do you think that bothers you so much? Is it because, he feels for someone else? Or simply because, now you're thoroughly confused?" He sipped his tea again. Waiting for the reactions.
daphne hwl: Daphne sighed and looked down at the floor. "It doesn't bother me so much that he's into guys and all that and that he's into Draco. I've grown used to that.." She paused, "I guess it bothers me that he doesn't like me how he likes Draco. I wish he did, because I like him a lot." She sighed and looked away.
I fear the mo0n: The truth emerges, and understanding begins. Or at least that's what usually happens after a conversation like this. "Ms. Greengrass.." when she looked away, "Daphne. Finding out that someone you loved, never felt for you that way, is always hard. It's never an easy road, to get back up and continue on down your path. Though," he took a sip of his tea, "sometimes it's easier if you look at the situation at a completely different angle."
daphne hwl: She looked back at him and frowned. "A different angle? What do you mean Professor?" She sighed...this had gotten easier, when she had talked about it, so this had helped.
I fear the mo0n: He checked the time, already feeling the effects of the night getting close. Indeed it was nearly time for him to lock up, and settle himself. He looked to Daphne, smiled softly. "Look at it, in a way you would never even imagine it. A completely different view, as if you were putting together a puzzle with two sides. Now, it's time to put together the next side, to see what it will become." He moved to stand, and sighed softly, a bit annoyed at himself. "I do not wish to depart, unfortunately for me, tonight is not one I can handle out in the open." He hoped she would understand, and just incase she hadn't realized, he nodded to the window, where a Full Moon was slowly rising.
daphne hwl: She took his words to heart and stood up as well, finishing the remainder of the tea she had left. "Thank you Professor..I guess I'll be going then." She nodded and looked at him one last time before going out the door, shutting it softly behind her.
I fear the mo0n: Lupin finished his tea, forcing his eyes to stay down, stare at the floor, until he was in his quarters. He locked the door, sat down in one of his plush chairs, and started a fire. Another sleepless night. Except this time, it would be his body keeping him awake, not his mind.
I never thought I'd actually go to Professor Lupin to talk..it was surprisingly comforting, better then talking to one of my friends about it to tell you the truth. Well, one of my Slytherin friends. I haven't seen Pansy since yesterday. Oh well. She's probably off on some quest of terrorizing other children. I don't even want to start thinking about Blaise...
