When Daphne Greengrass had been pulled from the fire her body had already been shutting down. It wasn't the flames that had done the most damage, despite the severe burns she had suffered. "Jacobs- Miss Jacobs-" he coughed, resting his palm flat against the jam of the door. "You've got to come right away-"
She frowned, looking from the expectant mother and back toward the ward.
"I'm in the middle of an appointment-" she said, brow furrowed. "Is there something wrong?"
"No- no, Miss Greengrass-" he was breathing heavily. "She's awake-"
That was all Cecilia needed to hear. She smiled apologetically at the couple sitting beside her, passing them the folder as she pushed herself up from off the stool. "So sorry- I've got to go- congratulations!" And with that, she was off and running down the hallway after the ward.
She was awake.

"We've had to keep you unconscious until your body was ready-"
"How long?" Daphne asked, tone even and stoic. The healer scribbled at Daphne's chart, avoiding her gaze - stalling. "How. Long?"

Cecilia hung in the doorway, not quite believing the sight before her. She'd spent every day for the last thirteen of them in this room, watching her best friend as she lay there unconscious. It had been almost surreal to see her then but now, she wasn't even sure it was all real.
"It was rather rude, actually-" she said, a small smile tugging at her lips as she came into the room, the other Healer nodding as she stepped aside, letting Cecilia take over.
"Honestly, Daphne, I know you like to make an entrance but this was ridiculous," she told her, her eyes already welling with tears as she perched herself on the edge of the bed.

So much time had passed with Daphne laying right here, unknowing of the world that moved and changed around her. It felt like she had just been-
Where?
Her flat? The restaurant?
"I should apologize then. I must have forgotten my manners," she breathed, eyes settling on the sight of Cecilia. The familiar and comforting sight of her best friend.
