Closed; A Welcome Interruption

It had been a week now since she'd moved out, leaving Terry and their decade long relationship behind, and yet that guilty feeling she had been expecting never came. Daphne felt unusually indifferent towards the whole thing, maybe even newly liberated to the road that she was paving out for herself now. Living with Cecilia was as wonderful as they ( Read more... )

This was his second lunch out of the office in two weeks, highly unusual for Cormac and it didn't go without notice from his supervisor. But Rufus was an easy-going man and merely winked at him when Cormac mentioned he was going to see a certain woman about a certain party. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him, spending most of his free time thinking about Daphne. He honestly couldn't get the taste of her out of his mind, his lips lingering with their kiss the other day.

So- after drumming up some sort of excuse to see her, he grabbed his coat and made his way to her office.

Daphne was surprised to see Cormac enter her office, a smile pulling at her lips despite herself. The memory of their kiss was still fresh, she could almost feel his warm lips pressed roughly against her own-

Her thoughts had drifted back towards him through out the week no matter how much she told herself it had been a fluke. He was a client and they had gotten swept up in the moment together.

"Cormac, I wasn't expecting you," she said, rising to meet him at the door politely.

Though the moment he was near her all she really wanted to do was rip his clothes off.

"I was hoping to catch you, if you had a moment-" he said, shrugging off his coat, letting the heat of the office warm his bones. "I realized a guest list would be helpful-"

He reached into his suit jacket pocket and pulled out a long piece of parchment, folded neatly. He'd done it in record time that morning, after finishing with the day's paperwork. If he was going to come up with some reason to see her, it might as well have been legit.

As much as she hated to admit it, Daphne was disappointed in the reasoning behind his drop by. Though, she would never let it show.

"A guest list is extremely helpful," she mused, reaching for the papers. Her hand grazed against his as she did so, lingering against his chilled hands. It felt like like electricity running through her every time they touched.
