#YesAllWomen, 3-6 of 144, in the form of haiku, for fizzyland

Delivery man
Says I'm way too fat to love
he still wants a tip

pre cell-phone "dick-pics"
men took them out on the street
just waved them about

Babysitter dad
Wait, I'll drive you home tonight
You still need the job.

Walking a city
With a man alongside me
a whole new city.

Take that, Twitter.

Now that's art. It makes me feel squirmy and uncomfortable while I appreciate the construction and composition. :)

It took me a while to understand the last one, and when I did, it floored me. I wonder how much harassment I am missing because I don't hear it.

Thank you!

The last one is the thing I have tried so many times to explain to men in my life, and failed. My entire world changes back and forth and they will never ever see because theirs doesn't, it's no different whether they're alone or with others. And when I woke up and saw it a haiku, it was was the most satisfying.

It's a very powerful poem (and my favorite as well) even more so because I didn't understand it at first, because of the stunning clarity when I did.

I kind of wish that women could go around recording the harassment they face for a while, video if possible, and compile them. I don't think reenactments are as effective as actually seeing it happen for real.

I kept a list for a while, here on lj, in "private" entries under a tag, just because I wanted to measure. I think I'm a little too...bruised, this week, to go back and revisit it all at once. But if I need more source material for haiku, I know where to find it.

I think you're right, about your hearing being protection. I've been happy about all the street phone use, for a similar reason--even if I'm not wearing headphones (which I don't, in public places...another "security measure" I take intuitively) I can always pretend I am. My hair covers my ears, people can't tell for sure. In the last 5 years, I think it's become an easier default assumption for guys to think "oh, she just didn't hear me, she's probably on the phone/listening to music" and it's less obvious that "she's ignoring me."

Awesome :)

Can you unscreen this one so I can point people here- or alternatively can I repost?

Unscreened (I think--let me know if that doesn't work)

It worked. I can see it now. Thank you.

The "whole new city" one gives me chills.
