As to the theatre: Don't do it if you're not going to gain anything from your dedicated commitment (which you always give).

As to the novel: Resolve, plot lines! The editor demands it! (hahahahahaahaaaaa, like that will help)

I have to agree with Jess on this one; seems the cons are outweighing the pros. I think your decision is sound.

But since you bring up auditions! I have a question(/favor?) to ask you, my dear actress friend! So, I want to audition for this local theater production of Guys and Dolls (could be worse) this summer. Because I've pretty much said to myself, "Fuck it, you NEED to be in a show (or at least TRY)," and am finally trying to get involved. For auditions, it says on the website that you'll be asked to read from the script, and to prepare a song for which an accompanist will be provided. Do you happen to have any idea (or know any one who would) how I should go about "preparing a song" for an audition?? The only things I've ever auditioned for with songs have been a cappella, so I didn't need to have sheet music or anything. Since I've never really auditioned for a play before EVER (I was in plays when I was younger, but it's been 10+ years and we never did real auditions), I don't know what to expect at ALL.
