I actually decided to choose some really peripheral fandoms for me this year, things I love dearly but rarely read or write for, and it turned into The Year of Historical Homosexual Gentlemen. So!
Some optional things that I generally just like: Time Travel, AUs*, genderbending, future!fic, Crossovers are okay as long as it’s with another fandom I know--general rule of thumb, check the stories I’ve written fic for?
- One of my favorite conventions in storytelling is an AU--not “An AU where everyone is space pirates” or “A High School AU” or “Vampire AU,” but along the lines of “An AU where X and Y never met,” “An AU where Z died as a baby,” “An AU where X and Y didn’t break up,” etcetera. I guess my favorite example would be “An AU where everything went as it was supposed to go.” What would be missing from the characters’ lives?
In general, the top three things I like: Plot, Porn, and Tragedy. I’m not really one for fluff? Hijinks are okay but I’d shy away from crackfic, please.
Squicks: Scat, gory porn, baby rape. Those are literally the only things that squick me. Anything else is down to personal preferences, and I'm totally open to most things.

Fate/Zero
I’ll be completely honest: I’m not actually a huge fan of F/Z except for Rider and Waver, and I have no interest in seeing Fate/Stay Night. This is the first time I’ve fallen desperately in love with a pairing when I don’t like the actual show much, and my adoration for it continues to surprise me.
What I’d like (optional ideas):
- An AU where Waver is a magician (or not) in Macedonia, someone who comes to the attention of Alexander the Great as he sweeps through the world on his quest for Okeanos.
- Alternatively, Waver goes back in time to see Alexander in Macedonia.
- Something involving the two of them reuniting post-series, either because when Waver dies he goes to wherever the great heroes go, or because as Lord El-Molloi II he finds a way to summon a servant even when there isn’t a Grail War on, anything really.
The Iliad
I’d love anything exploring Achilles and Patroclus’ relationship. What we see in canon is so brief, but so emblematic of their relationship at the end--it’s all boiled down to how they actually feel about each other in the most extreme of moments.
I’d love to see:
- Anything involving their early days, first time together, etc.
- Patroclus realizing that they’ve carried on too long (Achilles’ beard first coming in), but not being able to stop.
- Patroclus being the only one who can reason with Achilles when he’s...well, being Achilles.
Porn is great, anything tragic is great re: their ending, the fact that they lasted long past the ages where they should have stopped being a couple is really super more than fabulous great.
Lord John Grey
I don’t really ship John with anyone in-series--I love his one-sided love for Jamie, but I honestly feel that for anything to come of it would destroy the nature of the canon relationship, which is something that always tugs at my heartstrings. I think what breaks my heart so much about John is that he’s in love with a man who, by the very act of breaking his oaths to be with John, would become someone John could never love. Fortunately and unfortunately for him, that would never happen. Ow.
I’d love to see any story that puts John’s desires at war with his ethical code. What I love the most about him is that he has both, and so strong that it nearly tears him apart. I think few men have ever been tested as strongly as he has been--and I love it. Hurt him more! Anything involve him tooling around Europe would be fun, any assignations that put him at odds with his family or his regiment, or honestly if you don’t want to deal with any history etc, I wouldn’t mind a PWP as long as it’s not with Jamie (or a lady).
