Happy birthday Katie!! :D

I had a great time, but it wasn't AS great as I'd expected it would be. Its too much like Los Angeles, just more tropical. I fell in love with surfing, the culture, and the surfer boys, though :P But you know how when you go somewhere, you make a list of the great places? My family and I made a list of places we entitled "Places to Send Your Enemies". Hahaha. Those would be:

#1: Pearl Harbor
#2: Pupukea Beach
#3: Diamond Head Crater
#4: Hanauma Bay

We spent way too much time in the ABC Convenience Store - yesterday we went 5 times lol. Its like a 7-11, but it has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. ITs THE place to shop - 75% of my stuff is from there. Also Hilo Hattie- I got so many free necklaces from that place :D Hahah. I love ABC. Lindsay, go to ABC when you go to Hawaii. The great thing about it is that its EVERYWHERE> On one block across from Waikiki, there was 3 along one block, and immediately around the corner there was another one, and then right across the street there was a 5th one. AND they give out free mugs after you buy $100 worth of stuff :P Go Hawaiian Condoms.

The Trip:
We left at 5AM on Monday, met up with Liz and Aunt Annie in LA, got to Honolulu and went to Costco of all places :P And then we just drove around the city, and went shopping at the international market.

Tuesday: we went surfing first thing in the morning. It was so fun... it was nice to find something I was actually really GOOD at. After that, we went to Diamond Head crater and hiked it (evil!!!). Went kayaking after that, and then more shopping :P I was so sore for the rest of the week from the surfing - I could barely even lift my hands up after that. We went at Ft DeRussy beach or something, where we had to paddle out REALLY far just to catch the waves.

Wednesday: We went to Pearl Harbor ("Send your enemy here") and saw the USS Arizona memorial, plus all the other sunken ships/submarines etc. Then we went to a luau, which was so much fun! Liz, Barbara and I decided to go and hula onstage which was VERY embarassing, but so much fun. The food was great, we made leis, did a lot of hula dancing, watched the show... it was good times.

Thursday: We drove around the entire island of Oahu. We stopped off at all the great beaches and tourist zones. I saw Sunset Beach, and Haleiwa, and thats where we went to Pupukea. It looks like a pretty little bay/tide pool at first, but then you get in to go snorkelling, and its about waist deep and has a shitload of coral/volcanic rock at the bottom, and is covered with sea urchins. Everywhere you step you get attacked by sharp pointy edges, and then it started raining and we had to climb the slippery volcanic rocks back up. It wasn't just drizzling, it was POURING down. Went to the beach where Pipeline is, but since its summer it was pretty calm :( My dad says he'll take me back in November/Dec to watch the surfing competitions. Went to Ala Moana mall, did lots of shopping, found the "Just a Second".

Friday: We went to the beach for a bit, went parasailing, and then I went surfing again, this time at Waikiki. The good thing about Waikiki is that as soon as you get into the water, you can catch a wave. No paddling for 10 minutes for me! Then we went to the international market again, and walked along the streets - found the other just a second.

Saturday: Drove to the Dole Pineapple plantation, heard hellish music about "Pineapple Princesses" and the "Pineapple Express". Then we went to Haliewa again and ate shaved ice. Went to the mall. Liz, Barbara and I bought these cute shark things and walked around downtown attacking people and harassing them, then had our picture taken with cute boys (including a hot police officer).

Sunday: I spent all day at the beach. Went surfing, kayaking, then just tanned. The entire tan that I have was developed that last day... lol and its not very much!

Today: we left at 5AM again, and our plane was delayed 1 hour because of maintenence problems. We got to LAX really late, and we got detained for security reasons (they "selected" us randomly to be searched thoroughly.. funny that everyone else that was stopped was either chinese, spanish or african american...) then we were really late for our plane which happened to leave ON TIME (GO AIR CANADA! FOR ONCE!) and got paged several times, and then our luggage didn't make it onto the plane so they're sending it tomorrow :( Fun times.

So much more to write, but I don't even know what to say. Good times, good memories, I can't wait to go surfing again!
