Tuesday night at Club Hell turned out good - we got there early and the music was great. Clint, Matt and myself were the only people on the dancefloor for the first half hour or 45 minutes that we were there, but we were on fire and unstoppable! There was almost a fight between two chicks - but it was funny because they weren't the "tough" chicks ( Read more... )

What kitchy shit did they play? I feel like that's the biggest fault of any dance night. Who are they trying to appeal to with that shit? All djs think they're hot shit, but I think it's especially true of djs in Boston. Anyway, I'm really curious about what they played.

like he'll play Ice Ice Baby and that's not even from the 80s. you know like "Oh Mickey you're so fine". I'm trying to think of a good one from last night. like when it came on I just said to myself, "are you serious?"

Fuck the pain away. Do you think I'm sexy. Anything by Hall and Oates.

I know I'm being too charitable, but I'm inclined to give the DJ a break. I mean, for 4 hours a week, he gets to be a superstar. The rest of the time, he's just "that fat guy." That's got to suck.

I dunno man. he probably never leaves Allston where he is completely recognizable as "Fat Fuck DJ Brian" from the common ground.

was the music any good after I left? and better yet, was it worth waiting outside?? I don't want to call you a sucker, but waiting in line to get into that whole in the wall is hardly worthwhile. Marie and I pretty much decided on the way to the Milky Way that we're done going to Love Night.

Yeah, I was being too charitable last night. He's fat, obnoxious, and a really bad DJ. Sometimes I try to feel a little more compassion than usual, but inevitably I decide it's not worth it. Being a dick to Mattlock pretty much trumps everything.

The music improved after you left. There was a good run of synthpop, including some Erasure, which after the events of recent days, was "my jam." He did a couple of less-overdone Depeche Mode tracks too, but then spoiled it with the always-loathesome "Fuck the Pain Away."

Was it worth it? I'm not sure, but probably yes. I got to see a lot of friends, tell a lot of jokes, and drink cheap beer. In all, I had fun. Besides, I came all the way down there, so (maybe out of stubbornness?) I wanted to make something happen.

dear todd,

i'm really sorry to hear about how much your job sucks. i suggest working in the field of forestry, either as a ranger or a lumberjack. i think some additional forest conservation science education would pay off if you were going into those fields. as you probably know, new england's forests are under attack by constant suburbanization, and it is up to our generation to save them. please take my advice to heart.

your friend,
-marina
