Finally

finally

the Doctor condones murder in self-defense.

I love the Tenth Doctor, I really do, but his self-righteousness when it came to murder (even justifiable murder, such as Harriet Jones having Torchwood destroy the Sycorax to keep an influx of invaders from, well, invading) was so fucking frustrating. Eleven being more than willing to wipe ( Read more... )

Word to the acceptance of murder! ... that sounded less sociopathic in my head.

But the Sycorax thing will never stop being annoying.

That's alright, I won't tell the police ;)

Seriously though, Ten's vindictiveness when it came to murder out of self-defense was such a pain. While I disagree with Torchwood One's methods, their leader (and Harriet Jones, and Jack) had a valid point: the Doctor won't always be around to save the Earth, and humankind had to take it upon themselves to persevere. Not to mention a lot of the hardship the Doctor and his companions endured was due to his own soft-heartedness.

Oh and I finished watching series 5, so now I am officially caught up with you :D I'm going to wait until watching them again with friends before giving a more full review, but I would like to say at the moment that while I like Amy, I'm having trouble pinning down a lot of aspects about her character outside of the fact that she's clever. Also, I found Rory more interesting and compelling than Amy...this doesn't make her a bad character (though I may change my mind the second time through), it's just funny that the Uncredited Companion of the series is more awesome.

Yes! I mean, look what happened in Turn Left! And it isn't like previous incarnations of the Doctor haven't condoned genocide in similar them-or-us situations. I wouldn't be so annoyed if he wasn't so self-righteous about it all.

*nods* I agree with you about Amy; she's oddly written and while I really like her and find her a fun character, I think the viewer needs to bring quite a lot of their own interpretation/fill in a lot of gaps themselves. Rory is awesomesauce on awesometoast and I am very pleased you like him ^^
