During my brief stroll to the office, as I was walking in the soft dawn light and gently falling snow, I heard the call of a cardinal. I love that sound. Reminds me of spring.

Had my annual checkup last week, told doc about heart-in-throat feeling that has been more persistant of late. Wore a heart monitor for 24 hours on Thursday. Results expected in two or more weeks. Last week my dad was visiting so I took some time off work, which also means I wasn't riding my bike. Even so, I put my running shoes on instead and went for two runs last week. The first was a 4k run that left my leg muscles (that I don't use when I cycle) sore and tired. Felt good though, my improved cardio from the cycling really helped to keep ( Read more... )

I am quite proud of myself this week - this is the first time since I can remember that I have cycled four days in a row. Felt a little tired. Rode a little slower. But still, I was out there. Some people are not as lucky.

I've been doing pretty good lately being nicer to myself this year with the bike commutes, and it has been paying off. I've been pretty consistent getting in three rides a week, haven't quite made four yet. I decided last week to finally get back on my bike and resume my two-wheeled commute to work. My beloved was a tremendous help getting my bike tuned up, cleaned and ready for the season.
