i'm feeling very possessive right now.  my city is being invaded by people who don't live here.  also - everyone who makes speeches about all the people attending events here in the city mentions how far everyone has come

It was SO CRAZY today. We didn't even make the concert because we got there late and then the general admission was full. We're just going to get up at the crack of dawn on Tuesday, I guess. SO MANY PEOPLE OMG.

the only way that i got half as close as I did (which was actually quite close considering - we were a little more than halfway up the reflecting pool, in front of the first jumbo-tron that sat in front of the crowd - 1500 ft back maybe?) was that my sister's best friend got there around 10:30 and snagged a spot.

I was wondering why there were empty spots in the overhead shots of the crowd - I guess they budgeted general admission spots for the amount that could be in the grassy bits next to the reflecting pool, and didn't take into account all the space near on either between the korean war memorial and the pool.

Did you stay in the overflow area?

We were so late that we just kind of hovered at the fence om 23rd where we had an okay view of the jumbotron. We thought the concert would be a lot longer than it was.

I told my mom while we were in line if there hadn't been a metro dude there helping out I would have said to them, "Here - let me do it instead. Give me your money and I'll give you the cards that you need." Seriously. UGH.

We walked up to Farragut West, and it was surprisingly not completely terrible trying to get on the train. We ran all the way to the front car (because there is always more space), and actually had a great time chatting with all the people we were squished up against on our way home. and we were home in about an hour too.
