I do think Spidey works better as a single guy. But this really wasn't the right way to go about it.

Let's be honest though; how much of single Spider-Man have you actually read? Even when he was "single," when I was a little tot, he still was dating Mary Jane, so he wasn't really single.

The Ultimate line, sure. But the geek/nerd in me always relished the fact that Peter ended up with MJ.

Whoa. Just ending the whole Peter-Mary Jane thing is weird. They've been together for such a long time! It'd be like Clark Kent just deciding one day that he didn't love Lois Lane anymore (then again, that might have already happened - I haven't been caught up on Superman since ever).

AAAAhhhhhhhHHHhhH! American comics, why do you have to retcon so much! Anymore of it and we'll wind up like Mr. Bennet's wife towards the end of season one of "Heroes" - memory loss, fainting spells, and amnesiac episodes.

((amusingly, now I have a new name/designation for the Haitian's powers: Retconning! He's a retcon machine!))

Clark and Lois are still together, and are raising the son of Zod...

...

Don't ask. It's one of those things.

And you just gave the greatest name for the Haitian. He will now always be known as "Retconner."

It's still better than the recent Spider-Man stuff.
