Thankfully not mine, considering I'm already married (duh)...
A little backstory:
My best friend Angela started dating David (her fiancee) approximately 3 years ago. About a year into their relationship, she got pregnant. At that time, they started talking about getting married. Around the 7 month mark of the pregnancy, they got engaged. The baby is

1. Hit the $99 sale at David's Bridal. I'm telling ya!
2. Make a day trip (or enlist a friend) to buy beer and wine in Delaware. Have a beer and wine (and soda) reception.
3. Hit the produce junction a day or two before the wedding and get the "25 roses for $4" deal. Hand tie your own bouquets.
4. Cheezy as it may sound, you can DECK OUT a room on what's available from orientaltrading.com
5. Burn up a bunch of pre-mixed CDs and set up a disc changer on auto-pilot for the reception. Get a friend with a decent speaking voice to emcee.
I suppose most of this would work for the shower too. Oh, and a wonderful secret I've discovered is that most communities (like ours) has a common room which you can rent out for, like $100 for the ENTIRE DAY! As long as someone close to the bride has access to one, and they allow alcohol, they can be WAY cheaper than a fire hall. IF you can find one that holds enough people plus a dance floor, I'd say go for it!

Her older sister has said she will not be in the wedding anymore (thank god!!) so now I can plan things for the shower without having to deal with her much.
I like that idea for the flowers - I'll suggest that to her...she was thinking about hitting up a flower craft warehouse and using silk flowers (we'll all make them ourselves then)...
Thanks for the orientaltrading.com...i'll have to check that out too!
THANKFULLY, the DJ is a gift to her from her sister-in-law (to be), so they don't have to worry about that...
Thanks again for the tips...I'm hoping we can pull this all together in time! :)
