Because while I've read very little, granted, the few excerpts that I've read just seemed to be poorly written -- certainly not anything that would inspire me to complete a whole book. Comparatively, in terms of the phenomenon it's become and the passion it's generated within its fanbase, it seems rather "Potter"-esque... but I've only actually read about as much "Potter" as I have "Twilight" (meaning only a few excerpts) and from a similar amount, I'd at least credit Rowling with being a better author.
