I remember the days when LiveJournal was my only portal of self expression into the interwebs. My first entry was on 5/27/01 and I kept up a pretty steady clip of updates until the likes of Friendster, MySpace (I even worked there) and finally Twitter, Facebook (not to mention Second Life & World of Warcraft) came in to divert my attention to their

i prefer livejournal. it has the lesser amount of narcissism with the bonus of not having one liners invading news reel style. less noise more information.

It is odd to remember this medium and to realize how FaceBook just took this commenting thing and added it to everything on their site. The single focus of LJ does have it place...so hmmm we'll see.
