I saw Battlestar Galactica: Razor tonight. On a big screen. It was kind of awesome.
Kendra's a lapsed classicist! Awesome!!! (I was clearly the only one in the theater who was delighted by this.) Gina/Cain is CANON! Also, AWESOME!!! Oh, and half the theater cheered when the old-school cylons came on. And it was great to see old-school Starbuck. Umm, let's see if I can come up with any actual spec, as opposed to squeeing about classics and lesbians.
Kara will "lead the human race to its end"? Well, I suppose that could mean she'll lead it to its final destiny, rather than to destruction, so, e.g., earth.... But also, if the hybrid says that immediately after saying "all this has happened before, all this will happen again," that seems to be a bit contradictory, at least from its professed meaning. If the human race ends, nothing can happen again. Probably.
Hmm, what else? The fact that the hybrid was so ancient makes me think that it's more human than the rest of the cylons, which is seconded by how it's evidently made. Not that that's particularly relevant.
Just before the film started, I was reading the part of Hesiod's Works and Days that talks about the different races - the gold race, the silver race, etc. And I wonder if that's echoed in the "replacement" of the humans by the cylons, in the "replacement" of the gods/Lords of Kobol by the humans before. Each race is a little worse than the previous; are the cylons worse than the humans? It's difficult to say, and it of course partially depends on how you define "worse." Edit: Also, there's the replacement of the centurions by the hybrids, and by the flesh models, and finally I suppose by the children of humans and cylons.
But I want to see the extended version - everyone from the main cast/crew was supposed to be in Razor, and a lot of people weren't (but they're still listed on the IMDb credits). And there's this whole thing with Cain as a young girl that we saw nothing of in the 2-hour version. So early December should also be very interesting.
I guess I have nothing of real importance to say, per usual. :) More later, if I think of anything, or if the Sci-Fi flashbacks bring up something that didn't occur to me before.
And also, it looks like Zooey's in a new show on Sci-Fi. In which she apparently plays some version of Dorothy? This makes me laugh with hilarity and glee.
