Thanks, Shadow. I think this period of time in the B/J relationship really cemented the relationship in many ways that would last. Shared pain either brings two people closer or pulls them apart, and in this case, I think it did the former! I appreciate your comment! :)
Thank you! That's what I was aiming for. I know 201 and 202 so well, but there are things that were definitely missing like Brian's inner thoughts and feelings as all of it unfolded. That's what I tried to do here.
I almost did not finish this fic after the first paragraph. I started skimming, but this drew me in. I read this and then went back and read the whole thing. Instead, he had an intense desire to do the same thing. The muscles in his arms tightened as he imagined heaving the beer bottle in his hand, knowing the shattering, splintering sound it would make when it hit, anticipating even the smell of hops that would fill the air. It all played out for a moment before him, but in the end, he went to Justin’s side, set down his beer, and, without a word, began to massage the boy’s hand.
A very good portrayal of Brian and Justin stumbling seperately and then finding their was together after the bashing.
I'm glad to hear you went back and finished it. And, yeah, I certainly don't think any aspect of their recovery during this period of time was one-sided. There were good and bad feelings on both sides not to mention tons of things we never saw in canon. That's the wonderful thing about writing fanfic--you can expand in ways a serialized television program never could!
