So Tassa asked me to post the media cabinets I'm looking at, since apparently this is the easiest way for her to remember/find out about them. I'm not sure what that says really, but whatever. :P ( Read more... )

If you don't need doors and locking, you might want to consider this at IKEA.

http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=11414&langId=-1&categoryId=15981&chosenPartNumber=07305310

I don't know if you remember seeing it, but we have 5 of these in our living room. They do need to be secured to the wall. We purchased a piece of molding, nailed that onto the wall, and then attached it to the molding. If you do it this way, when you move out you can remove the molding and spackle the holes, and hopefully you won't be charged for damage.

Ugh. I have a vendetta against Ikea after several of their chairs broke on me. >_<

Aside from that, I'm also planning on putting our video game controllers and games in there, and from past experience no matter how organized your controllers are, they always appear cluttered. With doors I won't have to look at this clutter. ^_^

:P Don't you know livejournal is my brain? My email, a close second.

...this could explain a lot about my brain. It gets a lot of porn and spam.

Admittedly I like the wood better, but just cause wood tends to look nicer. Were you thinking of putting this right next to the TV stand? In that case, I can see why you'd go black finish.
