Yuletide recs
I'm late, but family time and holidays up in the mountains without wifi will do that to a person. Yuletide was less awesome for me this year, but there were some fics that I absolutely loved, and that I think everyone should read.

My favourite fic of Yuletide this year was a Disney fandom that I barely acknowledge. I like playing in Mulan and Beauty & the Beast fandoms, but Snow White has always seemed kind of boring to me. This fic, though, is amazing! It uses Pratchett's take on dwarves and dwarfish culture, which I find intensely appealing because of the underlying (admitted very idealistic) gender theory, and is just plain lovely.
1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (Disney)

Summary: Grumpy visits Snow White, eight years after Snow left the forest. All may not be as it seems.
My own Yuletide fic was also about Snow White, but it was in Jim C. Hines' Princess series. I ship Talia/Snow like burning and there is barely any fic for them, which is a crying shame! This year, though, someone stepped up and rummaged in my head, and wrote me the fic I desperately wanted.
2. Princess series (Jim Hines)
In the Bleak Midwinter by hederahelix
Summary: At a midwinter ball, after returning from the attempt to deal with Lirea, Snow realizes some things.
Pairing: Snow/Talia pre-femmeslash
NB: This is also one of my favourite Christmas songs so I was geekily excited by the title.
There was also CHAOS WALKING FANFIC this year! And yeah, this story is going to be somewhat confusing if you haven't read the first book, so um, read the first book? Patrick Ness does crazygood cliffhangers. eudaimon takes two minor characters, Cillian and Ben, whose relationship to each other is never quite explained and fleshes them out with love, dignity, and wonderful little details. Bring hankies because I teared up about a third of the way in and was crying snottily by the end. <-- what a recommendation, but it really is.
3. Chaos Walking (Patrick Ness)
He Mourns for the Change that has Come Upon him and his Beloved by eudaimon
Pairing: Cillian/Ben
Summary: The epic love story of Ben Moore and Cillian Boyd, and their friendship with Josephine Hewitt.
And we're back to Disney princess fandoms because Cinderella had an awesome fic in it too. It's actually got the feel of Tangled but set to the Cinderella storyline. And if that sounds extremely confusing, read it, and you'll see what I mean.
4. Cinderella (Disney)
What you Wish for and What you Keep by alice
Pairing: Cinderella/Prince
Summary: Once, Cinderella had the whole world in her head, and she means to get it back.
Yes, yes, there is an RPF one too. Ben/Claudia are my only active OTP right now and that's through sheer delusional belief that they are still in touch etc etc (damn you Roger for getting married and having kids! *shakes fist*), and the Yulegoat was kind enough to bring FOUR stories to B/C shippers. THANK YOU, YULEGOAT! I picked an AU for my rec because damn, I really wish life ran like this sometimes.
5. Farscape RPF
Here we go Again by pathstotread
Pairing: Ben/Claudia
Summary: "And, okay, there's that one time when they're arguing about a scene and she nearly breaks a director's chair while trying to chuck it at his head, but it's nothing they aren't able to work out over tea and crumpets the next day." Claudia finds it hard to get work without continually running into that Browder character.
