The first part all depends on how a person looks at a hero. A hero can simply be someone looked up to, who helps others, in some aspects (Like Jon's) someone who does no wrong or even someone who protects others regardless of the strain put on him. Even with the last regard of a hero, if the hero is afraid wouldn't make him any less of a hero. The only time a hero's fear would be bad, is if others are looking up to them for moral support. In which case, showing fear of the unknown would be a problem. Most people fear the unknown in some aspect or another. Whether it is people who are afraid of the dark or people who are afraid of death. A persons fear of the unknown is what keeps actions civilized and protects the person
