As previously blogged, the bungalow that roxana and I moved into here in Asheville was built in 1928. Some aspects of the house have been modernized, but most are original (molding, plaster, floors, etc.). It also features an earthen/concrete cellar/basement (with a really cool outdoor entrance). I'd noticed when we first moved in that both in the cellar ( Read more... )

Man, that sounds like an adventure. And all I did was work on a story inspired by Michel Foucault, in the thematic realm of Lovecraft, written in the style of yours truly.

Oh, and I did a lot of laundry while Natalie painted the entrance to our basement.

I wish I had a treasure trove like yours as a result of my labors. Those finds are always cool.

Ah, Foucault. Always fun. He was a favorite of ours to cite in grad school.

Funny, one of my long-term goals is to buy a second home higher in the mountains, north of Asheville. We may end up neighbors . . .

I wish I could say that we own this gem, but we rented it so we could be sure we knew where in town we wanted to purchase. With any luck, next year.

Today, I found a hand-painted window-art thingie, two TV trays, and the fireplace's missing dog grate. The fun never stops!

Yeah, it were fun. Now I have a new writing desk made with a "distressed" or "antique" top. I would have paid a hundred dollars for this in some shop . . . all I had to buy were legs and a can of stain.

So cool. All that I've found has been a lot of man hair, beer caps, awesome music...and my book collection suddenly seems puny in comparison to ripperbard's spread. Ah well...one day.

I tried to think of something creative you could do with the man hair, but, well, it's just gorss.
