I did not discover Warren Zevon until far too late in life.

Limitedly accidentally. He was part of a bunch I was given all at once, by a friend.

It was left to me to explore the package and discover what I would.

Well, that makes much more sense.

Better late than never!

(My dad had Exciteable Boy on one of his tapes in his car. I suspect I was the only kid at my junior high who knew "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.")

I couldn't agree more. Mr. Zevon came to me as a gift, in the form of Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon, along with Sacred Hearts and Fallen Angels: The Gram Parsons Anthology.

Talk about wow!

One year during my annual road trip from Pittsburgh to Birmingham I listened to Mr. Bad Example continuously there and back.

I feel I'm a better person for the experience.

That sounds like a seriously perfect roadtrip soundtrack!

I'm a fan of putting Willie Nelson and Townes Van Zandt on when driving long ways.

I'm going to have to hunt that one down.

It's a shame, on the latter-much like Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith.
