Yep. D. had trouble getting diesel for his sweeper truck last night. Worrisome.

That is a bit scary. I read something recently that diesel is actually something we export, instead of merely importing it, which is why places usually have diesel even if they don't have regular unleaded gasolines.

Good reason, then, to stock up on ye olde pantry. Folks are so worried about getting back and forth to work and school and the store that, I'm afraid, they could be overlooking that food supply issue. Or food transport issue, rather.

Fortunately, squirrels haunt the treelines of the fields 'round henh, and deer regularly walk through the yard. Grits and rice? Plenty. And living in a fairly sizable farming community makes me feel less at ease.

Had one of my students say that last weekend he nearly got stuck in Atlanta due to the gas shortages up there. Usually, my in-laws are gearing up for a trip to Black Rock State Park near Clayton, GA, or the Carolinas. I'm going to advise otherwise, 'cause that's a helluva long way to get stuck when home is below Savannah . . .

Wise idea. I'm reluctant to drive anywhere far from home nowabouts.

And here the baby girl and I are, chillin' at the house while my wife and son are running errands (paying off my Jeep being one of those!).

We shall make an emergency rations run when we go to a birthday party later this afternoon.

We'd be good, even as a family of four, for two-three days. I'd much rather have extra potable water for a week along with more dry goods/canned goods than we've got on hand.

Maybe it's a good thing I taught the kids some basic foraging skills this summer . . . ;)
