I have Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" stuck in my head from one of the parties this weekend. Like Woody Allen, he's an artist you REALLY have to seperate from his art. Back in the day, MJ made music (with more than a little help from the great Quincy Jones) that you could really move to. That's the thing. Pop music is supposed to music to move to, not listen to. One could argue the Beatles disprove this theory, but contrary to popular belief (I think) they didn't make pop music; they made rock n' roll that was popular. And certainly, their later work wasn't pop music, it laid the foundation for progressive rock. I hate these categories (music is music), but the industry seperates itself this way so there's no way getting around it. It's hilarious when someone like Justin Timberlake tries to make music to move to and listen to, injecting heartfelt emotion into his bubble-gum diarrhea that an unknowing generation of kids get spoonfed because they don't have the right perspective.
Is MirrorMask still in theaters? I wanted to see that stoned, but I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon. I also want to see The Legend of Zorro, but I'm not sure I want to pay $10 to see it. I fully expect it to be like Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade - still entertaining, but more cutesy and slapstick than the original.
I just realized that I have a fold-out bedframe for the spare mattress in my apartment. I can set that up tonight, and voila - I have a bed again. I really need to throw out the bedframe. I have bed debris in front of my door. So much work I need to do at the apartment, but really it's not that much if I just fucking do it (what'll it take, an hour?), but I won't be doing it tonight because when I get home tonight I'm going to bed almost immediately. Maybe. I can work this out.
Do they have classes you can take to learn how to dance? I mean club dancing, not ballroom dancing or tango or whatever.
I need to make a film. I need to make something. Just a five-to-fifteen minute thing, something I can actually finish and call my own. If I make my apartment look less like strategically-placed piles of everything, I'll have a setpiece. I think deep down I know this, another reason for procrastinating.
Tonight's RAW is going to be a tribute to Eddie Guerrero, like the infamous Owen Hart episode of '99. Ditto SmackDown! on Friday. Undecided if I want to watch them. During tonight's I'll most likely fall asleep, despite the focus being on wrestling and eulogizing Eddie. Gah. This sucks so much. He wasn't even 40. This keeps happening to wrestlers, and no one gives a damn.
The cover art for Infinite Crisis #5 was leaked online. Beautiful. I love how internet nerds are claiming this is proof that the Earth-2 Superman & Co. are somehow the villains of the story, which is asinine. If you honestly think DC would do that, than you have a problem with DC no matter what they do (unless it's what YOU would do - a common fanboy issue). Personally, I think this is going to be a fantastic story.
I wish my girlfriend would comment on my LJ. She doesn't have to identify herself or anything; she's an uptown girl and doesn't want to be associated with riff-raff like me. But it'd be nice to trade comments with her.
