I was reading Newsweek's humorous "The Last Word" column, in which George F. Will wrote about the various Important Events of 2007. Here are a few passages I enjoyed:

Yup. I really think Obama would be a nice breath of fresh air in DC. The thing is, Hillary Clinton seems to have more coherent policies, but I really don't think she could win an election as easily as Obama could.

My dad is a big Hillary Clinton supporter, and my mom is pained at the idea of voting for a Democrat or a Republican (and who can blame her?), and I'm highly confused and undecided at the moment.

It's worth noting that Clinton is the only Democrat who isn't blowing off Michigan.

It was a joking reference to Texas' rather inflated view of itself. And anyway, Texas WAS an independent country from 1836 to 1845 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Texas)
