Aargh, I hate that! How are you supposed to GET experience if no one will hire you without any? I've run into the same thing with teaching positions...just because I haven't taught in a licensed center, apparently I am underqualified :-/

Internships?
I heard of a girl who got experience by telling a chef she'd work for free the first amount of time.

But not good if you need a paying job.

In my job-hunting experience, internships haven't counted as "real" work experience...everyone wants a teacher who's worked for 2 years in a licensed center :-/

It might suck, but you might just need to get a job in the kitchen somewhere less-than-wonderful to get some experience on paper. Like at a Cook-out or Waffle House or something. Just to put some time in.
