Random person alert! xD I've never finished Banana Fish... but I want to and agree that it's an amazing manga.

I had a lot of trouble with the art at first too, I think that's why it's not so popular here. If it had less dated art, people would be all over it. At least for those who really enjoy plot with their story and can come to embrace the art they'll be in for a treat!

You can't get into the fandom? I didn't know there was a fandom to get into! ^^; Not an active one, at least. I read all of the Banana Fish fanfiction by Kay the Cricketed and that seems like all I can find that was (very!) worth looking into; like you said, the manga already said it all.

Haha yay for randomness!

Yeah I had a lot of trouble telling the characters apart at first (and there were so MANY of them! ;__; ) but as I kept reading...I started to find Ash disturbingly hot. o__O lol?

Lol there's a Banana Fish group on LJ... but I don't think they're very active? But mostly, the manga said so much and at the same time left so much unsaid that I think getting into the fandom would ruin a lot of what made the "unsaid" scenes intriguing for me.
