Because Legend features so many fandom characters along with original characters I made two guides; original characters and fandom characters. Here's the original characters guide:
Original Characters Guide
Alexander Michael:
Death on Earth, he is the guardian of all creatures dead and undead. These include vampires of all kinds, ghouls, zombies, ghosts, mediums (like the Sumeragi clan) and powerful Men of Death (such as the onmyouji wielding Sakurazukamori ‘clan’).
Alex is a ‘bieng’ an alien race which landed on earth a fortnight before the first human baby was born (so their legends say) and grew to intertwine amongst the humans. Each ‘bieng’ has its own different powers, like creating specific things (water, iron, electromagnetic fields, etc.), turning into various things (specific animals mostly) etc. Alex’s initial power is to read minds and to make people fall in love with him when he kisses them. As he meets other Creatures and Men of Death he ‘gains’ their powers and is able to use them but without these creature’s powers he is mostly powerless. Heightens and strengths his underlings’ powers, spells and stamina. Was accidentally given the power of love (the kissing ability) which was supposed to be given to Love on Earth, his older brother.
Charlie:
A general doctor in his world he was sucked into the Dimension a month after end finish of his apprentice time. Became the City’s medic and, in later days once there was enough time to do it, formed the City’s infirmary. Dresses and acts as Charlie Chaplin’s main character The Tramp for his own stress relief and the patient’s relaxation (Patch Adams style). Fell in love and, later on, married Blue Fairy. First member of the Rescue Team.
Blue Fairy:
A simple Fairy of Hope in her home world, she was a part of a team of a thousand other fairies who helped people feel better when they’re sad, also acted as ‘pointers’ on escape routs when humans were trapped or imprisoned. In the Lost Dimension she became a full blown Fairy of Hope who helps show the way to lost and desperate newcomers, acts as a last resort of hope to those who despair of life (help in field work, helps tend the sick and wounded etc.).
Slightly based on Anand Tucker's Hilary and Jackie’s Hilary.
Venus:
A Roman goddess of love. In her world she was responsible for lovers and love, protecting, spreading, and helping them. Upon arrival to the Lost Dimension she was badly wounded by Jacky who did not wish for her to join forced with Blue Fairy and make the City’s citizens happier. Due to the attack her powers were crippled and now she is only able to make the ground in a small diameter around her fertile and provide a field of daisies where lovers can run and hide from dangers to their affair. She became an underling to Yuuto when he became Love and her powers are slowly recovering from her wound. Fell in love and married Jacob who came to her aid when she was attacked by Jacky and saved her life. In return she bound his heart to her and secured him a life of happiness and love.
Jacob Lewinsky:
A Blue Circle soldier in his original world and a high commander in his section. He and David were team mates who commanded their unit together. Was taken from his world when running a campaign against his world’s Alex version when Alex was demolishing the Blue Circle. Originally he was raised in a Jewish mixed human and ‘bieng’ community and ran a horse farm with his family. His community was almost completely annihilated by the Nazis come WW2. Due to the existence of ‘bieng’ imprisoning devices in his world Jacob was sent to Auschwitz where he was imprisoned for 8 months.
When he was liberated he escaped to the ‘biengs’ original planet and joined the Blue Circle to ensure himself internal life and strength to fight humans with ‘bieng’ controlling devices.
David Cohen:
A Blue Circle soldier in his original world and a high commander in his section. He and Jacob were team mates who commanded their unit together. Was taken from his world when running a campaign against his world’s Alex version when Alex was demolishing the Blue Circle.
Originally was an abandoned ‘bieng’ baby taken into a human family without them knowing of his true nature. He was sent off to grow in his uncle’s farm which was destroyed come WW2. He was then imprisoned in Auschwitz and was taken into the Zundercomando, a unit forced to do the burning of dead prisoner bodies in the camp’s crematoriums and the maintenance (maintenance, not operation!) of the camp’s gas chambers, where he was kept for a year and a half. Took part in the unit’s rebellion against their wardens and escaped punishment only barely.
The memories of his past did not let him go yet and the guilt his ‘occupation’ in the camp makes him banish himself from the rest of society. In order to ‘repent’ his deeds he became the City’s undertaker who makes sure every dead has a proper burial and a gravestone with the dead’s name and details so those will never be forgotten.
Anthony Farnon:
A veterinarian who specialized in farming animals and keeps at the same occupation in the Lost Dimension. Much based on one of James Herriot’s story’s movie version, on the character of Siegfried Farnon who was played by Anthony Hopkins.
Can be kind and fatherly, a friendly man and a good listener but when irritated becomes a careless lazy and loud old man.
Dimitri Zaitz:
A forest keeper. A hunter and carver. He sees his occupations as a way to pass the time because basically he can survive without people giving him food as return for keeping the forest safe and carve stuff for them. Is actually very lazy and laidback person and would rather have no duty on his shoulder. Likes to enjoy life and live the most of them as long as it doesn’t require too much energy from him. Chose to live in the forest because the City was full of people he couldn’t understand and interact with.
Somewhat based on Escape from Sobibor’s Alexander 'Sasha' Pechersky.
City Council Members:
Five men (they were once more then that) who lived in the City the longest and also had leading backgrounds in their home worlds (mayors, politicians etc.). Now they are the ‘rulers’ of the City; deciding what happens and when unless it is a family affair (such as a birthday party, wedding etc.). Are actually cowardly and unsure of themselves at the presence of creatures such as the Rescue Team, members, and the monsters threatening the City. Tend to make rash decisions in order to make their words seem smarter and their rule more stable.
Lady Destiny of the Dark Side:
An entity controlling the events in the Dark Side, channelling the lives of those who live in it and dictating her inhabitants’ behaviour.
Deep down inside is sadistic, adventurous and easily bored. Cares very little for the hurt and pain her inhabitants go through and only acts to preserve ‘Balance’ when she really has to.
When she clearly reveals herself she can appear very similar to XXXholic’s Yuko.
Dvora Haimov:
An old friend of Alex’s from his original home dimension. Was imprisoned in the same unit as David and spent the exact time he did there, doing the exact things he did in the rebellion etc.
Met Alex during his work with Simon Vizental right after he returned from killing off the Blue Circle. Lived with him until he became sick and had to be put to sleep.
Her life became longer and she did not age due to the effect of Alex’s great ‘bieng’ force around her.
When he fell ill she perished and became an angel in a heaven dimension. Her role was to shepherd the souls of innocents who died in horror and misery towards the fields of serenity where they’ll shape up again and heal. She was also enlisted to the guardian angels who would protect the heaven dimension from any invaders from the hell dimension.
Came to the Lost Dimension and became a guard of the palace then one of the guard’s commanders.
The Land of Anthrax’s Queen:
A simple milkmen’s daughter in her original world, she was taken to the Lost Dimension’s Light Side and began gathering women to her with a vision of a peaceful thriving land of only women.
Along with the women she gathered she built the land, the palace and the fields around it with her bare hands thus earning her followers’ honour and love. Became a queen two years before the fic’s beginning.
King of men:
A brave admiral in his medieval home world, he came to the Lost Dimension and gathered most of its men around him in hills rich with minerals and metal to form a city of mines and professional weapon construction.
His meek behavior despite his high rank in his home world and his ambition made him a ruler over the men and a devoted father figure to them all.
Somewhat based on Lord of the Ring’s Theoden King.
The Lady of Light:
A creature of light both in appearance and in behaviour. She is kind and careful of her men and creatures and feels for them as if they were her children. She takes great pains to make sure everyone is happy and satisfied in her land and that no evil comes to anyone as long as she has her way with their destinies.
A soft, sweet, happy little thing who, whenever she reveals herself to her Oracle, takes the form of an English lady resembling Six Feet Under’s Ruth Fisher.
Noters:
Act as general policemen (minus the checking of other soldiers’ appearance and traffic enforcement) they wear blue and red elements, which are the MP core’s colours in Israel (and also in England so I heard). Their white helmets are originated form their white policing hats, same thing for the white left sleeve.
Amongst them the following significant characters are:
Lion:
The chief of the regional command in his original home world, a lieutenant colonel in rank, who can be an open minded, kind, warm father-figure and a roaring, steaming angry bull whenever the various moods and events take him. His assumed name, Lion, comes both from his character and from the fact that the regions’ symbol was that of the Lion of Judah.
Ice Man:
A former Nordic god (a god is basically a ‘superior’ form of ‘bieng’), he fled his homeland with the rise of Christianity and had found a rabbi who helped him recover his shock and grieve of his ruined glory. He then changed his religion and refused to behave as a god or use his powers unless it is absolutely necessary. The Lost Dimension forced him to reveal his true self.
There’s a long held hidden hatred between him and Alex due to two things: 1. Alex is an ‘inferior’ form of ‘bieng’ who killed all the gods in his original dimension and ever since then hates gods. 2. Alex likes to use the guilt it Ice’s heart for the time in Ice’s world when the god was in Palestine helping the Jewish settlements while his powers were needed to save the Jews of Europe. In return Ice likes to guilt-trip and angst.
Gala:
Not really a Noter at all though she took over the City’s prison and joined forces with them. Much based in both appearance and some behaviour on Fight Club’s Marla Singer. She was an overly-enthusiastic Blue Circle member in her home world, snatched away from it at the verge of becoming a high commander. As she arrived at the Lost Dimension she joined forces with a former Rescue Team member named Oly and tried to occupy and enslave the City. The attempt was cut off by the Rescue Team. She was then kidnapped by Oly to the Dimension’s north pole from which she called out to Alex using her Blue Circle communication abilities and brought him over to release her though she never thanked him for it, choosing to hate him because of what he did to her cult in his world.
She then settled down, became a good girl and helped put the City’s prison/madhouse into better order.
The Pirates:
Former A.W.O.L catching squads members Noters who landed in the Light Side and, due to finding a stash of Forget Stones (stones who snatch and keep people’s memories), forgot who they are and, since they landed on a pirate ship, decided that they are pirates. Travel between the Light Side and the Dark Side via their ship and act as merchants.
