I've never done it before. I hear it is very challenging...but I was thinking all night and I just don't think the story will come off as well as I want it in any other way than first person...

Perhaps I can post them here under special lock when I am ready and you can glance them over for me and tell me if it flows ok?

what's the story about? I like writing first-person, but then I eventually end up hating my characters whenever I write that way...

Well it's basically about a girl who lives most of live kinf of lost in a fantasy world in her head...like she appears to be a normal girl, but the thoughts she has are so out there no one would ever guess...so I fell like it can only be told through her...

What about if you had the "real world" parts written in third person, and then the "fantasy world" parts in first person? That might help to highlight the distinction between the two worlds a bit more.
