I was talking to David once, about relationships. I think he was just beginning to date someone, and was telling me that he didn't see it lasting forever. And I told him, "but who, at our age, in the time we live in, really goes into a relationship thinking it will never end?" He stopped for a minute, and agreed. Then he said something to the effect of, "but in order to fall in love, I need to believe that it will." Course, David's said many things, including that human beings have evolved past the need for romantic love, but I think he really got to the crux of the matter in that particular admission. I think we all want to pretend forever.
That was beautiful. I hope you do get to live that life. It would be nice to have you around to sympathize with my aches and pains and how disrespectful the little whippersnappers are these days. That's all, I'd like to add something intelligent and insightful to say, but I can never seem to come up with the words.
