Look, not to be an asshole to Scarlet or anything, but I want ALL opinions stated. A simple democracy. Everyone, put your opinions on the subject down, whether you eat meat, just veggies, if you eat everything in sight, or if you just don't eat at all... Scarlet, Nick, and myself have been debating on the subject of Vegetarianism. I am not going to ( Read more... )

Eating meat is natural. The ingestion of other animals has allowed humans and most other species to survive throughout the course of time. The cycle of life on Earth has always entailed the idea of "Eat, or be eaten." The balance of nature dictates that slower, less capable animals are caught and consumed. This allows advancement of the species; the faster, more able animal survives to procreate ( ... )

That's the thing though, I honestly don't think there is a right or wrong as far as eating meat opposed to eating plants. But you don't see meat-eaters trying to force-feed vegetarians. Humans have the ability to healthily consume both, so why does it matter if someone wants to eat meat? And why does it matter if someone doesn't? If you eat a cooked steak you aren't a horrible person, and likewise if you eat a nice salad you aren't going to hell or anything. We were given a choice, I choose to be an omnivore and eat whatever's edible and tastes good, why should Scarlet's choice not to trump mine? The ethical stand-point has no bearing, if animals ran wild they'd be eaten by something else. The dinosaurs are the perfect models, every vegetarian dinosaur was food for every carnivourus dinoursaur.

The fact that stupid people sometimes inhumanely kill animals doesn't mean eating meat is bad, it just means humans are assholes and need to develop better ways to produce food, both meat and vegetables.

im not just talking about this one, i mean i dont eat beef but i eat chicken and stuff. but they usually do treat the animals badly until they are killed, i mean they cant kill millions of animals at once in a humane way. and not eating meat wont really help any since there will always be other people to eat the meat you dont buy, so i agree with you on that.

i dont eat meat. i eat poultry alot, now more than previously, but any beef or pork or anything other than poultry doesn't touch mi mouth. its not for the pussy reason of "save the animals" either. the animals are going to die whether you eat them or not. if everyone stopped eating meat, then the animals would go extinct because people would stop breeding them, and many people would still kill them for sport. so mi question to people that say they dont eat meat for the animals is this: would you rather they not exist at all? as some people are black and some people are white, as some people are heterosexual and some people are homosexual, so some people eat meat and some people dont. its simple. its not a war. its a fact of life. but to picket and riot against eat-meaters is ridiculous. what they eat is their own business, and they are actually helping our economy just as much as the people who eat only veggies are.

they wouldnt become extinct they would naturally survive NORMALLY. like we all do?

maybe people shouldnt picket and riot, but its not rediculous to want to stop the abuse, not at all. It would be there own business IF it wasnt such a harmful thing,

like ive sed before if you eat meat wouldnt you atleast want to fight for less suffering of the animals?
Like people have for thousands of years only eat meat that was taken from animals killed in WAY LESS pain, then now?

its unfortunate, but they wouldn't survive normally. they would overrun their grazeland, and die of starvation and disease. a county in arkansas already tried that. they made it completely illegal to hunt, and in doing so were overrun by the animals. they had to hire government paid men to go out and literally slaughter thousands of animals because they were all diseased and starving ( ... )

In the irony of my icon, it seems that I should be just that, the one who eats everything in sight. I am glad everyone has said what they'd like so far. It makes me feel glad to show you all why humans have become superior. It's diversity, and without it, we'd all be cavemen still, and this world wouldn't be the way it is. Yay for change.

Thanks for all the participants, however, the debate isn't necessarily over; join in if you feel differently than these fine people, or you just want to state your opinion.
