After research into the subject, I've determined that stepping on broken glass sucks just a bit. Saturday morning, I stepped on a small chip of a broken pint glass. It bled quite profusely for about 20 minutes (as foot injuries are prone to doing), but closed nicely and was only about half an inch long. It's made walking a bit of a chore, though
