Yeah, Japan pretty much owned ass. But did I buy anything?
Duh.
First off, the manga. Everything from bread, curry, chinese cooking, scuba diving, vikings, dogs (with the awesome name "Bakainu - We Love Dogs!"), bartending, koma, mah jong, and a japanese adaption of the X-Men. I was initially going for the 100-mark, but landed around 75 in the end. Probably for the best as there wasn't room for a fucking breadcrumb in my luggage when I was done. Still, 75 is a fucking lot, so I'm good.
Random magazines I got. Left to right; V-Jump, a random free magazine with Hard Gay on the front (had to include that), a map of all the maid kissatens (maid cafe) in Akihabara (<3), a maid kissaten flyer, random pins from the Air Gear manga, Megami, the most random pachinko magazine ever, and finally...a maid kissaten magazine. How could I not buy that? :D
Inside the maid kissaten magazine, I found my regular kissaten, "Entertainment Cafe - Maid in Japan". It's pretty easy to find, has good food, not too shabby prices and there's a stage where the maids go up and sing supercute (or geeky) songs. While being awesomely cute, obviously. ^_^
My Death Note - Blanc Et Noir artbook. It weighs a ton and is full of sweet Death Note/Hikaru no Go and Bobobo Bo Bobobo (XD) pictures. It killed my overweight on the plane, but it totally wins. And as a side note (badam-pish), I managed to catch the Death Note live action movie in the theaters. Pretty awesome stuff, especially the ending. "Omae...akuma ka?" I'm totally gonna see the sequel if (when, goddamnit!) I'm in Japan this winter. :D
Yeah, it's impossible to see shit, but anyway, these are the One Piece and Tales of Symphonia gashapons (tiny "put-them-together"-figures) I bought. I should've bought more, gashapons rule. :/
And of course Japan had it's handfull of fucking awesome dvds. Left to right; the GTO live action box set (heavy AND expensive..but totally worth it), Nana vol. 1 (which was 707 yen, or about 35 NOK. Cute, cheap, had to get it) and Maid In Akihabara, the most awesome live action series ever. It's about a maid kissaten...and cute maids, that alone should make you watch it ^_^. Search for it on tokyotosho and you'll probably find it.
But back to GTO. It drained my wallet pretty good, so I have to get my money's worth. Five disc, one extra disc, plus the TV-special (sold seperately, but the box had one extra space for it, which was pretty nice). And yes, I'm gunning for both seasons of Gokusen the next time I'm in Japan. Mmm...badass-teacher-goodness...
Now, this is pretty fucking awesome. The Densha Otoko movie (special edition, of course), the Densha Otoko live action series, plus bonus disc (yes, my wallet is empty at this point), the Densha Otoko manga, the Densha Otoko chat log book. Yes, this is the highlight of my shopping spree. :D
And because we love our train guys; the back of the series box set (which is really nice and shiny), the booklet that came with the movie, the actual movie, the back of the movie box with the extra heart pamplet.
Even the whole dvd-spread for the tv-box looks awesome. And it's biiiiig (and shiny!)! :D
Shiny tv-box on top (the whole fucking thing is shiny XD), back of the movie box below. I just can't get over the design of the movie box. It's so cute, I get a lump in my throat every time I see it. ^_^
Now. Games. Far left, on DS: "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!" and a random Japanese/American point-and-click phrasebook (yes, wtf. I just had to have it. XD). Second row, "Konjiki no Gash Bell 2" and "Baten Kaitos 2" (yes, I know that japanese rpgs are filled with lots of text and scary kanjis). Next, "One Piece - Pirates Carnival", "One Piece - Grand Battle! Rush" and finally, "Battle Stadium D. O. N", which I haven't tried yet, but am totally psyched about. I also bought two other DS games, "Eyeshield 21" and "Jump Super Stars" (that's four games with characters from One Piece, maybe a bit overkill?), but they somehow managed to fall into
vrimmel's bag and are now in Trondheim. XD
Finally, the last batch of stuff: cd's. Top to bottom; the opening and ending singles to .hack//ROOTS, a Digi Charat - Party Night single, the Kiba op and ed singles, a random cd from an...Akihabara girlband (I dunno, I just bought it because it had cute girls with short skirts on the front), music from the movie Lily Chou-Chou (which would be the best hash-music ever, it's weird, but pretty cool), the Black Lagoon op single and the Gedo Senki theme (I'm still pissed that I didn't manage to see the damn thing while in Japan :/)
The Suzumiya Haruhi ed single, the Juuousei op single, the Tales of Symphonia soundtrack (4 cd's, baby!), the Soul Link op single, the Gintama op single, a random cd from a random band which I got for free as a promo thing (and although it was free, the music was pretty good :D), the op/ed single for the Viewtiful Joe anime, the Utawarerumono op single, and finally, Angela - I/O.
Wow. I guess I kinda overspent a little bit. But I got the awesome japanese shit I came for, so I'm satisfied. And yes, I'll do a couple of more Japan-posts. That country contains so much awesomeness, one post simply isn't enough. ^___^
