I'm pleased to know that you feel that way. I'm quite envious of your husband.

Thank you. I'm flattered by that, but I am also very happily in love with him.

Oh, I can see it and I'm very happy for you in that respect. Even if you were single, I'd probably force myself to keep a professional distance from you.

Fate seems to enjoy taking the women I care about away from me.

So how can you tell if someone values their lives? Do you give them a questionnaire or something?

I talk to them. And I pay attention.

Every surgery is a potentially dangerous situation no matter who is performing it. They're probably in safer hands with me than with 99% of doctors where I'm from.

I respect all of this. I don't know why.

It's a respect for life.

No, it's not. I do respect life, but I'm more impressed by your monetary ideals and the decision to stick it to the system than I am by your altruism.

Miki would adore you. You're bloody well doing the right thing either way.

Miki was our doctor and psychic surgeon. But she wasn't a proper doctor because the world ended before she could complete her residency. But the sick needed caring for and she still had the skills. She took care of four hundred people total for a span of six years.

She is. I keep hoping she'll visit.

Honestly I would be surprised if a great deal of people whine because you're unlicensed. Except for Crane, who whines about everything.

Well, Crane was apparently not permitted to join the Infirmary staff so his animosity could very well just be the result of a bruised ego.
