I really love how you compare Mytho's transformation to Rue's, and how Rue's will take much more time to overcome. (I've definitely read fics where Mytho is not fully cured and the Raven's blood surfaces to torment them some more, but I far prefer the happier version.)Thanks! I did try to imply that Mytho isn't totally unscathed by his experience, and that the Raven's blood is still inside him and has changed him (though the changes - like a little selfishness, and being able to love one person more than everyone else - aren't all bad, though they might come with a price), but that out of the two of them, it's Rue who's scars are going to take longer to heal. And I do genuinely believe that. Rue has so much insecurity, loss of identity, and a terrible past to deal with as well as wow the way the Raven's blood might magnify those torments, and she's only human ( ... )

Yeah, it's definitely easier to appreciate Rue on the rewatch! And it's very odd how often the wedding episode is overlooked (maybe because Duck and Fakir absorb all attention in that particular ep, so Kraehe's threat seems almost incidental). But you're right that her actions were very telling.
You're right, I really do love that about Rue also, that she fully accepted the blame for what she did. I try to bring that element to the characters when they make some terrible mistakes ( ... )

I've actually been writing fanfics for nearly ten years now (wow...it just hit me how much time it's really been! o_0), but I promise that if you were to go to my FF.Net profile and read the stuff I wrote when I was a young teen starting out, you'd be amazed at the difference in quality. XD It definitely took a lot of time and continuous writing to get where I am now, but it was absolutely worth it, and a lot of fun. So just keep writing! The more you work at it, the easier it becomes! I wish you all the best! ^_^
Oooh, and is that Cloud and Aeris in your icon? *fangirls*

Irrelevant: I've always wondered if Rue's eyes are really red, or some other color underneath, like Mytho's. More relevant: Most fanfic seems to portray the fairytale as a boring, sappy, stifling place to live. (I gotta work on that.) In a few short lines, though, you did a lot to present a logical alternative.
Very well done!

I completely agree with you about how appropriate the ending was - by the finale, Mytho and Rue were deeply connected in a way that he and Duck/Tutu simply weren't.

That's really interesting, because in one scene featuring Rue as a child (when the Raven first tells that Mytho is destined to marry her) her eyes are red, but in others (like this one), her eyes are clearly brown. I absolutely love the idea of her eyes having been stained permanently red from years of drinking the Raven's blood, so in my view (and the canon in my head), her eyes were brown as a child, but were turned red over time. *_*

There's a quote from Terry Pratchett's "Wyrd Sisters", by Death (voiced by Christopher Lee in the cartoon adaptations- woo hoo!) about humans thinking that Art is an escape, but it isn't-- it draws the audience further *in* to the very things they want to leave behind. In the PT epic- thingy I'm really not writing, the only way I could think of to present life in a fairytale is exactly like real life, just maybe with more magic, and enough room and time for lots of things to happen. If nothing else, I've already got most of an epilogue written-- how would a fairytale kingdom confuse a Really- Not- from- National- Geographic(c) journalist?
I mean, look at Anne McCaffrey's Pern. The dragons are why you plow through the politics, interesting as they can be.

I wonder about that too, though I tend to think the answer is no, and that after so many years drinking the Raven's blood, her eyes can never go back to normal. :( Beautiful, grey Jennifer Connolley-esque eyes are a lovely choice imho (and the canon is such a minor - and not totally consistent - detail anyway), but I think I prefer brown because it's so...natural and ordinary, and really represents to me the normal human life she could have (should have) had, if she hadn't been stolen by the Raven.
