FF.Net Poll #8 - A question about Archie Comics Fanfiction

May 31, 2018 23:25

Tonight, I posted a FF.net poll, for the first time in seven years:

Could you be interested if I write Archie Comics fanfiction? (To be published elsewhere, as per the fic ban.) Secondly, which of the listed pairings you might want me to explore? For those not wanting pairings, just select an appropriate option, instead.
I don't have time, ATM, but ( Read more... )

I'm sure I'd be intrigued. :) I'd love to see some decent fanfiction, especially since the canon is going so downhill. (Riverdale TV series, WTH.) It's so ridiculous that Archie Comics has that stupid ban, particularly now that they're coming up with worse canon stuff than most fanfiction writers would!

On the plus side, AO3 accepts Archie fics, but FF.net has a wider audience. It sucks about the ban now, as I finally come to care about the characters. I still was taken aback by the ban at the time, but epic bans of any fanfic content tend to do that ( ... )

That's good that AO3 does, at least! But yeah, FF.net has always been bigger. Although lately, it seems like you're equally unlikely to get a review either place. Sigh. And yes, wide bans like that always highly annoy and irritate me. I try to see it from the writers' POV, but it's hard, especially since while I myself don't like some of the oddities people have written involving my characters and verses (one person took my mad scientist and paired her with Rishid, after she tortured him and Marik, WTH), I feel I don't have the right to tell them they can't write it. They should be as free to express themselves as I am.

Wow. I haven't heard of the Vixens one. That sounds all kinds of cracky. LOL. The horror parodies mostly sound disturbing. Veronica as a vampire ... huh.

That's always nice when that happens! Interesting parallels you're drawing between Seto and Veronica there. And yikes, disturbing about her father in the Married Life version!

It depends. AO3 is smaller, so I manage expectations. I don't know if you know Mediaminer, but I used that, 10 years ago. The reviews I got were good/concrit, but I didn't get very many. However, I also tend to go about lack of reviews this way: if they aren't saying anything, then they aren't yelling at me ( ... )
