I like this line so much! It kind of parallels him with Ben, who was a monster killer, but when he defined himself he always put the word "soldier" first. Here Alec was actually more of a soldier lost on his mission, and he's defining himself as a killer.

And this really highlights how cruel Manticore was about the whole situation. :(

First of all, thank you so much. It really means alot to me that you liked it.
Anywho, I honestly wasn't trying to draw parallels between Alec and Ben. I never really noticed it until you pointed it out, actually.
And yes, Manticore is cruel and cold an the root of all evil, and mean and stuff. I really couldn't agree with you more. They know what they want, and they will do anything they want to get it, no matter who gets hurt. The evil bastards .
